Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi Raise $23 Million for Hurricane Sandy Relief
Written by admin on November 06, 2012

Bruce Springsteen delivered big time for his native New Jersey, which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy last week. Friday’s benefit concert “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,” presented by the Red Cross and NBC, raised a whopping $23 million for victims of the storm. The Boss, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Mary J. Blige and others performed in the one-hour telethon, which also featured appearances by NBC’s Tina Fey, Brian Williams and Jimmy Fallon.

“We are incredibly grateful and humbled by this outpouring of support for those who are suffering as a result of Superstorm Sandy,” American Red Cross Chief Marketing Officer Peggy Dyer said in a statement. “Our preliminary results of nearly $23 million raised are an extraordinary example of how the American people pull together in times of disaster. Their generous donations will go directly to those in need, and we urge the public to continue to give.”

Aguilera performed “Beautiful” and Bon Jovi played their classic “Livin’ on a Prayer,” but the real highlight was Bruce, who delivered an inspiring take on “Land of Hope and Dreams.” Watch it below.
